Yunnan C.C visited Beijing

Yunnan CC (YCC) visited Beijing during QingMing festival April 5th-7th to play 3 matches series.

Game 1:

Snow welcomed YCC in Beijing. Due to overnight snow in beijing, first game was reduced to 20-overs game. BCC had won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Gopal and Bappy opened to YCC and Leo started the bowling with Parag. Cold weather was not letting bowlers to get the line and length right, resulting in a lot of bouncers and extras. After loosing Bappy(3), Gopal played positively scoring 48 runs before given LBW. Next batsman departed was Umair on 7. At this stage Arsalan and Barcha played beautifully. YCC scored 166 in 20 overs.

Tom and Matt started the batting for BCC. YCC got Tom and Linal when Liam joined Matt in the chase. both were looking good but Bappy took the wicket of Matt(51) in 16th over, gave only 1 run. Required runrate was little too high for BCC to chase at that point and fell 14 runs short of target.

Game 2:

The next day was windy and very cold as well. BCC had won the toss and elected to bat first.

Hafiz and Javed had opened the batting for BCC and started smashing big hits. they both took on KCC pacers and raced BCC to 130 in 10th over when Hafiz was caught on the boundary after making 81 from just 31 balls. Soon after Javed departed on 47. but Saeed kept the momentum going, added 71 runs from 41 balls. BCC set the target of 310 for KCC to win.

Gopal and Barcha started the fight from YCC. BCC showed disciplane in bowling field. Gopal, Barcha and Bappy were back after scoring 21 runs each. after that it was impossible for YCC to chase down the huge total. there were some beautiful strokes in batting but nothing could save them. BCC kept the pressure on with variety of bowling and won the game by 168 runs.

Game 3:

Final game – sunny day, YCC had won the toss and opted to bat first in hope to set a huge target for host team. This time Barcha and Manoj opened the batting for YCC but Manoj was sent back without adding any score and soon after Gopal joined him after scoring only 1 run. YCC was not looking very good at this stage but Barcha and Sadiq stood steady against BCC bowling. Barcha hit 5 fours and a 6 before he departed. Bappy Jr joined Sadiq in the middle and both played very beautifully in the middle over scoring 67 and 41 respectively. On the other hand Mustafa bowled consistently good, Saeed’s two wickets over and Bappy’s run out left YCC leaving target of 200.

After the lunch break, BCC started the chase aggressively. Some poor bowling, quality shots and sloppy field put BCC in commanding position. Hafiz was sent back by an awesome catch by Sadiq on mid-on. Saeed also could not add more than a run to total before he dismissal but Kavi and Safdar comfortably took BCC to victory in 26th over with 5 wickets in hand.

Message from Ian:

It was great to welcome the Yunnan CC to Beijing in our first ever inter-port where we played 3 matches at Dulwich College on April 5th/6th/7th. BCC won 2-1 but more importantly it was great to see the energy and commitment from the Kunming lads in wanting to expand the game in Yunnan province. As the BCC we look forward to more interaction with clubs around the country. Well done to all who put his together. Thank you
